Ingredients in our sunless spray

Turbo Tan sunless tanning spray contain several exclusive ingredients making the self tan as naturally looking as possible. But there is more to the product than just the ingredients. Some of these issues are:

  • Usage of the best quality and highest purity of each substance.
  • Exact amount of each substance in relation to each other.
  • Type of spraying method.

All of these issues has to be perfectly balanced.

Dihydroxyacetone (DHA)

DHA is a cosmetic substance, used in sunless tanners, that bronzes the skin to resemble a natural tan. DHA is non-toxic sugar, approved since 1970s. It is often extracted from sugar beets or sugar cane. This fact is often used to emphasize that sunless tanning is harmless.

DHA reacts chemically with the amino acids, which are part of the protein containing keratin layer on the skin surface. The resulting sunless pigments are called melanoidins. These are similar in coloration to melanin, the natural substance in the deeper skin layers which results in a real tan, from exposure to UV rays.

Often, DHA is described as a "magic substance" in the cosmetic industry. Because of its importance spray tanning, sunless tanning spray and other self tanners are sometimes referred to as "DHA tanning".

Erythrulose

Erythrulose and DHA are very similar in composition. Both react much the same way on the skin surface when used for sunless tanning. Erythrulose produces a lighter and slower developing tan, taking 24 to 48 hours to complete development. The final tone of erythrulose is slightly redder than the DHA based tan. In this context it means the than is less orange.

Erythrulose counteracts skin dryness. This makes fading of the sunless tan more natural looking and smooth. When combined with DHA, the resulting sunless tan lasts longer, fade better, and provide a more cosmetically pleasing color tone.

Aloe Barbadensis

Also called Aloe Vera is plant widely renowned for its healing abilities. It contains a wide range of minerals, amino acids and vitamins essential to the human body. In this context, "essential" means that our body cannot fabricate them but are required. Aloe Vera is intensively nourishing and moisturizing. This helps the preservation of your sunless tan.

Turbo Tan sunless tanning spray contains of course more substances than the above. These are: Aqua, Propulsion gas (air, non flammable), Alcohol denat, Ethoxydiglycol (Transcutol CG), Peg-40 Hydrogenerated castor oil, Methylparaben Propylparaben, Perfume, Ci 42090, Ci 16255 and Ci 19140.
